Rahul Gandhi eyes Chhattisgarh polls

Will talk to Patel, Choubey on Feb 15

Raipur, February 08, 2013

Finally, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is said to have shifted his eyes towards assembly polls in Chhattisgarh as he would be talking to PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey about party preparations for the final battle on February 15.

According to information, Gandhi is planning to visit Chhattisgarh, but waiting for appropriate time to come.

He has his own plans for each of the six poll-bound states – Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh (MP), Rajasthan, Delhi, Karnataka and Mizoram in 2013, said sources.

However, Chhattisgarh and MP would be more challenging for him as the two states are being ruled by BJP for last nine years, they added.

For the first time, Gandhi will be discussing with Patel and Choubey about PCC’s next eight-month strategy for polls.

He is also said to be discussing about organisational structure - from state to booth-level, candidate selection process, factionalism, burning issues of the state, party’s weaknesses and BJP’s strengths.

Sources informed that Gandhi had already taken overview of party’s past 12-month activities from state Congress incharge BK Hariprasada and veteran leader Motilal Vora and received positive inputs about Patel and Choubey. So, he is least likely to disturb the state unit’s organisational structure right now, they said.
