The three-day national seminar on Ravindranath Tagore and rural
development will commence at Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU) campus from
February 20, 2013. The seminar will be organised by the varsity and State
Resource Centre (adult and continuing education) to mark Tagore’s 150th
birth anniversary.
In the sidelines of seminar, a cultural programme and
exhibition comprising of Tagore’s life sketch, photographs, paintings,
letters/scripts, books and songs (CDs, DVDs) will be organised with an aim to
reflect various dimensions of his philosophy, informed coordinator of
organising committee for the seminar Professor Mitashree Mitra.
In seminar, the experts from different parts of
country would speak on five main topics - Tagore in shaping rural
reconstruction and rural development, relevance of Tagore’s idea on
environment, social discrimination and rural development, gender equality and
women empowerment, education – means to transform rural life and cooperative
way of life for transforming rural society.
In addition, the experts will also talk on nationalism
and internationalism, Tagore and national integrity, Tagore and Humanity,
folklore and rural development and globalisation and its implication on rural
development.
