Protesting Kanker rape incident, the NSUI activists led by their state vice president Subodh Haritwal on Friday gheraoed tribal development department office and demanded resignation from chief minister Raman Singh and tribal development minister Kashyap. On the occasion, several NSUI activists including Haritwal were arrested and released later.
Later, Haritwal said the NSUI would continue its protest against Kanker incident in different phases.
“It is unfortunate that despite disclosure of such a shocking incident, the CM has not issued any directive for stern action against the rapists while Kashyap has not come out of New Year bash yet,” Haritwal said.
“The NSUI has taken the matter seriously and soon a probe team led by organisation’s national vice president Bharat Kumar will visit girls’ hostel at village Jhaliyamari under Narharpur nagar panchayat (Kanker district) to take stock of the situation. The team will submit its report to AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and NSUI national president Rohit Choudhary,” he informed.
“The NSUI has also decided to gherao CM house on January 18 in its next phase of protest,” he said.
The NSUI activists who accompanied Haritwal during tribal development department office gherao programme were Raja Farishta, Vidhi Namdev, Asmita Chelak, Shshikant Barore, Raj Lalwani, Rahul Lalwani, Anurag Sharma, Noushad Khan, Kaju Tiwari, Kanhaiyya Sharma, Vishal, Sanjay Singh, etc.
