CG becomes hub of duplicate item manufacturers: Cong

Raipur, January 17, 2013

In the backdrop of duplicate gas cylinder manufacturing unit being raided at Bhanpuri industrial area, Congress on Thursday said Chhattisgarh had become hub of duplicate item manufacturers.

“It seems the market is flooded with duplicate items after discovery of duplicate gas cylinder factory in the vicinity of capital city. This factory was manufacturing thousands of cylinder everyday. Heavy investment was done in this unit. Certainly, this factory existed due to political and administrative protection,” said Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.

“Just recently, five factories manufacturing duplicate fertilisers were raided in Rajnandgaon. There is a vast range of duplicate fertilisers and pesticides in the market. The agriculture minister Chandrashekhar Sahu too has named a few duplicate pesticides during Vidhan Sabha session. A farmer in Abhanpur committed suicide because he had used duplicate pesticide in his crops and incurred massive financial loss. The government’s negligent attitude is really surprising,” said Shukla.

He pointed that the National Medicinal Laboratory Hyderabad had already confirmed that duplicate medicines were used in Balod eye camp in which several people lost their eyesight after undergoing cataract operation.
Similarly, he said the complaints of duplicate milk products frequently surface in the capital.

“The police and food department never take action after investigation. Therefore, the state has become major market for duplicate item manufacturers. The government is taking action only on papers and is least bothered about life and health of citizens,” he said.
