Kanker rape: Cong’s state bandh tomorrow

In protest of Kanker rape incident, Congress has decided to call state bandh on January 9. The decision was taken during party’s monthly meeting that was convened by PCC chief Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey at Congress Bhawan on Monday.

“The rape incident is shocking. Chief minister Raman Singh should take moral responsibility of the incident and tender his resignation,” said Patel and Choubey.

The party felt that crime in state had skyrocketed in past nine years due to government’s indifference.

The party appealed to people of Chhattisgarh to come forward and ask government to put aside politics and ensure no iteration of Kanker rape incident.

Patel and Choubey also reviewed organisational activities in December 2012 and discussed about party’s upcoming events like tehsil-gherao programmes, block-level meetings, Vidhan Sabha-level workers’ training camps (manthan) in January 2013.

The duo asked the party general secretaries to hold meetings of district and block Congress committees and finalise the organisational activities in their assigned Lok Sabha constituencies.

The meeting was attended by TS Singhdeo, Baijnath Chandrakar, Pradeep Choubey, Dr Haridas Bhardwaj, Pushpa Devi Singh, Subhash Sharma, Arun Vora, Bhupesh Baghel, Devvrat Singh, Dr Shivkumar Daharia, Vidhan Mishra, Premsai Singh, Abdul Hameed Hayat, Deepak Dubey, Uday Mudliyar, Amit Pandey, Shiv Singh Thakur, Ambika Markam, Ashok Raj Ahuja, Aijaz Dhebar, etc.
