Holding government responsible for not providing adequate safety and security to rape victim girls studying in ashram school at Narharpur block (Kanker), the Congress leaders on Monday submitted a memorandum to Governor Shekhar Dutt demanding dissolution of BJP government.
“The local panchayat body had informed about the incident to district administration six months before no action was taken. The appointment of male staff in girls’ ashram school is also objectionable. The poor tribal people send their children to ashram schools trusting the government institutions and it is constitutional and moral responsibility of the latter to provide full security to school-goers,” said Congress leaders in the memorandum.
They pointed that there had been a marked rise in rape incidents and women abuse cases during BJP regime in the past nine years and the government had completely failed to provide security to females.
“Anarchy prevails in the state with no law and order. The BJP has no right to remain in power on moral grounds and hence its government should be dissolved,” they said.
The Congress leaders who submitted memorandum to the Governor were former state CM Ajit Jogi, PCC president Nandkumar Patel, Subhash Sharma, Bhupesh Baghel, Devvrat Singh, Dr Shivkumar Daharia, Vidhan Mishra, Padma Manhar, Chandrabhan Barmate, Kuldeep Juneja, Ambika Markam, Abdul Hameed Hayat, Deepak Dubey, Uday Mudliyar, Kiranmayi Nayak, Jaswant Claudius, Kalpana Patel, Mamta Rai, Usha Shrivastava, Chhaya Verma, Nivedita Chaterjee, etc.
