Congress will organise massive kisan sammelan under its ‘Congress lao Chhattisgarh bachao’ campaign at Abhanpur on Saturday. The conference will be attended by union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh, Chhattisgarh Congress incharge BK Hariprasada, state Congress incharge secretary Bhakta Charandas, PCC president Charandas Mahant, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey, party’s programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel and other senior leaders.
Before proceeding to Abhanpur, Ramesh, Hariprasada and Mahant will jointly talk to media persons at Raipur on Saturday morning.
In the farmers’ conference, the party will hit at the BJP government for failing to effectively implement central schemes intended to benefit farmers. The party will also raise other farmers’-related issues during the conference.
Notably, Abhanpur is former PCC chief Dhanendra Sahu’s assembly constituency. Sahu belongs to organisational camp and is strong opponent of senior part MLA Ajit Jogi. In the past, he and Baghel had frequently lodged complaint to the party high command against Jogi for his solo-events in their respective constituencies. However, Sahu appeared in Jogi’s dinner party at New Delhi recently while Baghel did not turn up as he was not invited.
Later, Baghel retaliated and snubbed Jogi when he organised party rally on teachers’ day in his assembly constituency Patan. Now, when the party is organising an event in Sahu’s constituency, Jogi is said to have received an invitation as a quid pro quo gesture from the former, although he would not attend it as he is in New Delhi for past couple of days.
In coming days, the party will hold similar conference in Patan, Rajnandgaon and Bastar.
