Congress Seva Dal has demanded 9 tickets: Joshi

Raipur, September 03, 2013
State Congress Seva Dal has demanded nine tickets for its members in upcoming assembly polls. In this connection, the dal’s national head Mahendra Joshi has forwarded list of nine candidates to party’s poll and screening committees. “We are demanding tickets considering capability of our members to contest and win elections. I will also talk to PCC chief Charandas Mahant and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey in this regard,” said Joshi while talking to media persons at New Circuit House on Tuesday.

He said five of the dal members contested elections in Assam and won. “Similarly, the party gave tickets to four dal members during recent Karnataka polls and all of them managed to post victory. In Madhya Pradesh, we have demanded five tickets for forthcoming polls,” he added.

Joshi, who was on day-long visit to Raipur to attend dal’s conference, said through such events the organisation wanted to ensure active participation of its members in polls. “We will hold similar conference in other poll-bound states too,” he said.

“Seva Dal is a cadre-based frontal organisation of Congress and its responsibility is to provide support to the party in achieving the set target,” he said.

He clarified that the dal, instead of doing negative propaganda of the incumbent government, would rather disseminate Central schemes. “Meanwhile, we will also expose state government’s grafts and scams,” he said.

Flaying the ruling BJP for failing to curb corruption and crime he said Darbha incident happened due to former’s negligent attitude. He claimed that Congress would win 2013 assembly polls and come to power again.

When asked how Congress would deal senior MLA Ajit Jogi who frequently goes against partyline, he said Jogi would comply with high command’s instructions as he had stated recently.

Asked his take over most deserving prime ministerial and chief ministerial candidates at Centre and Chhattisgarh from Congress, he said he would go with Rahul Gandhi at Centre and follow the party tradition of electing CM in state after winning polls.

‘Seva Dal to play key role in polls’
Raipur, Sept 03: Seva Dal will play vital role in assembly elections to be held in November-December 2013. For this, the dal members will have to reach rural pockets to propagate Central schemes. The words were expressed by Seva Dal’s national head Mahendra Joshi during his addressing at organisation’s state-level conference at Guru Teg Bahadur hall on Tuesday.

He also informed significance of Centre’s food security bill which has recently been passed in parliament.

On the occasion, the chief organiser of state Seva Dal Ashok Raj Ahuja briefed about dal’s activities across the state. The conference was attended by DCC Raipur Urban president Vikas Upadhyay and large number of dal members.
