Jogi says CBI probe into furniture, cycle scams must

Raipur, September 21, 2013

Pointing that state ministers were involved in about Rs 60000 crore-furniture and bicycle scams Congress legislator Ajit Jogi on Saturday felt that CBI probe should be ordered into both the cases. Jogi’s demand came a day after chief secretary Sunil Kumar expressed his readiness to be investigated by Central agency, for his name too is being linked to both scams.

“As the documents obtained under Right to Information (RTI) Act too confirm involvement of BJP ministers in furniture and bicycle scams, the government should now issue instant orders of CBI probe into the matters,” Jogi said.

“The government must also order CBI inquiry into text book purchase as government had hastened in revoking the deal when grafts worth crores surfaced in it,” he said.

He said the government did several scams through its ministers during its two terms. “The state witness grafts in land purchase, mines allocation, sapling purchase for forest department, school uniform purchase, medicine purchase, paddy purchase, public distribution system, smart cards, etc. Still, the government did not rope any independent agency to probe into these matters,” he said.
