With its demand to install traffic signals in all the road intersections of Raipur avert road mishaps, the NSUI members demonstrated and gheraoed Raipur municipal commissioner Taran Prakash Sinha on Friday. During their demonstration, they clashed with the police when the latter tried to disperse them from the entrance of RMC head office.
Later, NSUI’s former state president Sanjeev Shukla said urged Sinha to quickly install traffic signals at all the road intersections as accidental cases in the city had increased in past couple of years due to less road arteries and rising vehicular movements.
He said the main squares like Station chowk, Fire Brigade chowk, Kalibadi chowk, Santoshi Nagar chowk, Akashwani chowk, Changorabhatha chowk, Tatibandh chowk, etc were more prone to road accidents due to heavy traffic pressure in such localities 24x7.
On the occasion, Shukla was accompanied by Gulzeb Ahmed, Vijendra Singh Bhuwal, Shahbaz Hussein, Sheikh Asif, Amit Tiwari, Shashrukh Asharfi, Monu Walia, Arif Ansari, Siddhant Tiwari, Ayush Agrawal, etc.
