Alleging that power companies are overtly flouting directives of chief election commission pertaining to transfer of staff in 3-4 years, the NSUI gheraoed office of joint chief electoral officer DD Singh and submitted a memorandum on Tuesday.
The NSUI’s Raipur district president Pradeep Sahu said despite clear instructions by the commission the staffers of power companies were not reshuffled.
“To peacefully conduct 2013 assembly polls, the commission has categorically directed that no official shall remain posted in his or her home-district for more than 3-4 years. Besides, it also said that the officials, who are facing criminal charges or awaiting decision on cases pertaining to their wrongdoings in polls, should not be engaged in election-related works. The government, on the other hand, instead of complying with commission’s orders have not transferred its favourite officials in power companies with an ulterior motive to take advantage during polls,” he said.
He charged that while the government did not hesitate in reshuffling staffers in other departments, the power companies were left untouched because chief minister Raman Singh, who holds energy department, does not want any change.
He said the NSUI would take the matter to streets if the government would reshuffle staffers in power companies.
On the occasion, Sahu was accompanied by Akash Soni, Babla Ant, Tarun Soni, Mahesh Yadav, Taru Mishra, Rahul Raj Banjare, Raja Banjare, Om Bhadoria, etc.
