Congress legislator Ajit Jogi has sought explanation from state government for deciding not to conduct probe into Rs 60000 crore-furniture scam despite chief secretary Sunil Kumar himself recommending for it after his name was dragged in the matter.
“There must be something fishy about the matter, therefore Kumar urged chief minister Raman Singh through a letter to hand over the case to CBI,” Jogi said.
“The government cannot just rub its hands by telling that the matter had been sorted out. The people want the government to disclose the names of responsible people behind furniture scam and reason for its refusal to conduct investigation into the matter by high-level agency,” he added.
CM trying to cover the scam
Alleging that the CM was trying to cover the scam, the PCC spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla said the fight for share of graft collection in last ten years was surfacing in such an ugly manner.
“The standoff between state ministers and administrative officials on corruption is really a serious issue. The minister neither trusts his department’s officials nor the CS. The officials, in suppressed voice, are alleging that the minister is mounting undue pressure on them,” he said.
“When the CS has shown courage to face CBI inquiry then why the CM is hesitant in roping in the central agency? Besides furniture scam, the CM should ask the CBI to also inquire into mines and power scams,” he said.
