Mahant says Cong will develop filmcity in CG

Raipur, September 20, 2013

PCC president Charandas Mahant says that if Congress will develop filmcity in Chhattisgarh if it comes to power. He gave assurance to a delegation of state’s film artists who submitted a memorandum to him pertaining to their demands on Friday.

“The state has ample possibilities to be developed into a movie hub. “If people give us mandate in upcoming assembly polls, we will surely establish a filmcity like Ramoji Rao filmcity in Hyderabad,” he said.

Besides, he said, to encourage tourism and movie industry the Congress government will also constitute film development corporation in state.

Through the memorandum, the Chhollywood artists said the incumbent government was indifferent towards their demands and hence they feel insulted.

Mahant said he had always believed that the state film artists were talented and simply required opportunity to develop.

“It is an irony that the government is ignoring state artists and spending crores to rope in bollywood stars in its events. The will not tolerate this and would certainly change the cult in favour of local artists if it forms the government again,” he added.
