SC community assures Mahant to support Cong in polls

Raipur, September 20, 2013

Hailing PCC president Charandas Mahant’s announcement that Congress would raise reservation quota of scheduled castes (SC) from 12% to 16% if it comes to power in state, a delegation of SC community on Friday assured the former to support Congress in forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.

The delegation said the ruling BJP had simply exploited SC community in past ten years and even slashed their reservation quota from 16% to 12%. “Our community is deeply hurt by the government’s decision. We will certainly favour Congress in next polls,” the SC leaders told to Mahant.

They also clarified that newly formed Satnam Sena had nothing to do with members of Satnami community. “The objective of Satnam Sena is to benefit BJP government and divide Satnami community. However, we are well aware that only Congress will safeguard our interests and hence we will always help each other,” they said.
