Senior Congress MLA Ajit Jogi on Tuesday asked state government to disclose funds allocated by Centre. “The government always blames the Centre for not providing adequate financial succour for development works, but ironically fails to make optimum use of allocated funds. Eventually, Central funds for different schemes are lapsing as has happened with Rs 1402 crore provided by union rural development ministry to Chhattisgarh,” Jogi said.
He informed that the government could not spend Rs 427 crore under MNREGA, Rs 60 crore under Indira Awas Yojna, Rs 827 crore under PMGSY and Rs 88 crore under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) in 2011-12.
“However, the Centre gave Rs 1421 crore to state for 1138 roads under PMGSY in two financial years – 2011-12, 2012-13 but the ruling BJP is unable to improve the rural road conditions,” he said.
“The BJP government is unable to spend Central funds on given schemes effectively because of its weak administration and willpower. Hence, when fund under different schemes lapses, the state government mislead people that the Centre was not providing it requisite monetary help,” he said.
He further hit the government for not expediting process of making unique identity cards (Aadhar card).
“It is on the basis of Aadhar card the poor will get benefit of Centre’s revolutionary cash subsidy scheme (CSS). Unfortunately, the ruling BJP is misleading people about CSS terming it disadvantageous for public distribution system (PDS). Presently, the BJP workers and middlemen are taking benefit of PDS. Once the poor will have their Aadhar cards, the funds in PDS will not leak to wrong hands. The ruling is aware of it and hence it is against CSS,” he said.
