Several NSUI activists were arrested and about 38 got injured while their massive rally was marching towards Rajbhavan on Tuesday demanding quick action against rapists and improvement of SC and ST hostels of state. According to information, 48 arrested activists have been sent to jail under section 151.
The rally - led by NSUI’s national incharge Amrita Dhawan, NSUI national vice president Bharat Kumar and organisation’s national secretary Ekta Thakur, commenced from Congress Bhawan towards Rajbhavan to submit memorandum regarding Kanker incident. Large number of NSUI workers from Jogi faction also joined the rally. The NSUI activists were sloganeering and demanding President’s rule in the state.
The police stopped this rally near Motibagh. While the NSUI activists persisted to go ahead and jostled with the police personnel, some youth, who were inside Motibagh, pelted stones on the cops. The police eventually resorted to lathicharge to disperse the activists.
Besides, NSUI’s national leaders, the activists who were arrested by the police were state Devendra Yadav, Subodh Haritwal, Gulzeb Ahmed, Heena Lahre, Nikhil Dwivedi, Vandana Ben, Preetam, etc.
