The average accumulation of water in all the reservoirs across the state has reached to 82 percent owing to good rainfall in the recent past. The officials of Water Resources Department (WRD) informed that Shyam (Ghunghutta) and Barnai reservoirs in Sarguja district, Maniyari and Ghongha reservoirs in Bilaspur district, Jhumka and Gej reservoirs in Koria district, Khapri reservoir in Durg district and Ruse reservoir in Rajnandgaon have filled completely.
The water accumulated in the reservoirs of other parts of the state is Minimata Bango dam in Korba district – 96%, Gangrel dam (Ravishankar reservoir)– 54%, Sondhur – 57% and Murumsilli – 38% in Dhamtari district, and Tandula reservoir – 73%, Kharkhara reservoir - 77%, Gondli reservoir – 690%, and Maroda reservoir – 77% in Durg district.
Similarly, the water level in Dudhava reservoir – 67%, Paralkot reservoir – 44% and Mayana reservoir – 19% in Kanker district, Sikasar reservoir – 94%, Bellar reservoir – 15%, Kumhari reservoir – 85% and Pendravan reservoir – 91% in Raipur district, Kharang reservoir in Bilaspur district – 96%, Kodar reservoir – 47% and Keshva reservoir – 57% in Mahasamund district, Kosarteda reservoir in Bastar (Jagdalpur) district – 67%, Banki reservoir - 50% and Kunwarpur reservoir – 81% in Sarguja district, Sutiyapat reservoir – 91%, Beharkhar reservoir – 82%, Kshirpani reservoir – 90% and Saroda reservoir – 64% in Kabirdham district, Mongra Barrage – 80%, Pipariyanala Barrage – 52%, Matiyamoti reservoir – 50% and Dhara reservoir – 62% in Rajnandgaon district and Khamharpakut reservoir – 76%, Kedarnala reservoir – 43%, Kinkarinala reservoir – 46% and Putkanala reservoir – 22% in Raigarh district.
Notably, there are 41 main irrigation reservoirs in Chhattisgarh and their total water accumulation capacity is 6401 million cubic meters. Presently, the all the reservoirs have stock of 5248.82 million cubic meters of water.
