Engineering colleges do not have principals, professors





The Higher and Technical Education Minister Hemchand Yadav has admitted that none of the three government engineering colleges of the state have principal and professors currently as all such posts were vacant. Yadav’s acceptance came while he was replying to a question of leader of the Opposition Ravindra Choubey during the ongoing monsoon session of the state Assembly on Tuesday.
Yadav informed that there were three posts of principal and 21 posts of professor in the government engineering colleges. “At present, all the 24 posts are vacant,” he said.
He further informed that was no post of assistant professor in the government engineering colleges. “Instead, 109 posts of lecturer have been approved in these institutes,” he said.
Yadav also informed the House that about 1700 posts of principal, professor and assistant professor were vacant in the government colleges across the state. His information came in the form a written reply to a question to Congress MLA Tamradhwaj Sahu in the Vidhan Sabha.
About 82 posts of principal, 341 posts of professor and 1313 posts of assistant professor are yet to be filled in the government colleges, he said.
The vacant posts of principal are usually being filled through promotion while the Higher Education Department has sent a demand letter to the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission to the fill the vacant posts of professor through direct recruitment, he said.
Similarly recruitment of 878 vacant posts of assistant professor is under process, he added. He further informed that that no contract appointment of assistant professors had been done in the academic session2011-12.
Answering to another question of Congress legislator Mahant Ramsundar Das, Yadav informed that there were 172 government colleges in the state. He admitted that 39 block headquarters do not have any government college.
While replying to a query of BJP MLA Devji Bhai Patel regarding private universities, Yadav said four such varsities had been given recognition by the government so far. The private universities are – CV Raman University, MATS University, Kalinga University and ICFAI University.  
He informed the House that there was no complaint with Chhattisgarh Private Universities Regulatory Commission against any of the four private varsities regarding distribution of fake degrees of higher and technical education.
