Elected Cong reps being removed on false charges: Jogi

Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi has alleged that the government was removing the elected panchayat representatives of Congress by making false charges against them. “This is an unconstitutional and politically motivated act. The government is victimising the Congress representatives and consequently the development works in the particular areas are being affected,” said Jogi on Thursday.
“The government is fabricating false charges of financial irregularities against the panchayat representatives under section 40 of Panchayat Act and removing them. The glaring example is removal of Kawardha zila panchayat president Seema Agam Anant. The Dharsiva janpad president Pappu Banjare is also being harassed. The government is deliberately delaying to release the allocated fund for his region as it aims to do the works through its machinery and project him as a villain before the public,” said Jogi.
Pointing that over 1000 posts of panchayat representatives were still vacant, he said the repetitive by-polls dent government exchequer and ultimately affect socio-economic development of the particular regions.
“The government should stop the trend of harassing elected representatives of Congress and provide them adequate funds for development of their areas,” said Jogi.
