The Congress on Monday gheraoed the officials of DS Vicon, the construction company hired by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to complete the fourlane project at Ring Road No 1, for pathetic road condition from Pachpedi Naka to Santoshi Nagar chowk and the entire stretch becoming accident-prone. The Congress leaders led by DCC president Inderchand Dhariwal warned the officials of the construction company of agitation if the road would not be repaired in next 24 hours.
The delegation further asked the officials to quickly start the Pachpedi Naka flyover and complete the fourlane project rapidly.
“There is no trace of road from Pachpedi Naka to Santoshi Nagar chowk. Moreover, the large potholes cause frequent gridlock in the area making the public life hell. In past two months, four people got killed while about 30 sustained injuries in different road mishaps in this region. This proves the insensitivity of the construction company,” said Dhariwal.
The delegation further sought clarification from the officials regarding delay in commencement of the flyover which got completed much earlier. “They do not have genuine reason for the delay. Rather, their act seems deliberate and intended to cause inconvenience to the public,” said Dhariwal.
The delegation further asked the officials to start the flyover from Tuesday onwards. “This will surely ease the traffic pressure on the two roads on either side of the flyover,” Dhariwal said.
The Congress leader who accompanied Dhariwal were – vice president Madan Lal Taleda, spokesperson Sheikh Shakeel, Jagdish Ahuja, Satnam Singh Panag, Samir Akhtar, Avtar Singh Saini, Mamta Rai, Santosh Tiwari, Sumit Das, Devendra Yadav and others.
