To inspect status of Central schemes and level of corruption in them, the Congress monitoring committee will conduct statewide tour from Sarguja division from October 18, 2011. The decision was taken by the committee during a meeting convened by PCC president Nandkumar Patel at Congress Bhawan on Wednesday.
Notably, the committee has been constituted by the party’s national leadership to keep an eye on the Central schemes in the state and to prepare comprehensive report on them at regular basis. In this connection, every member of the committee was made incharge of two-three districts so that they may not face inconvenience in preparing reports, but majority of members failed to produce anticipated result.
In the meeting, some of the members said that the concept of individual tour to the districts was wrong as locals did not show enthusiasm in providing stipulated information regarding the Central projects being implemented in their regions. Considering feeble public response to the tours of the committee members, Patel said the future inspection would be done in group.
He said since majority of the complaints regarding misuse of funds in Central schemes come from Bastar and Sarguja divisions, the committee would first conduct tours in the two regions.
Accordingly, the committee will commence its two-day Sarguja tour on October 18. Meanwhile, the committee will take help of the local MLAs and ex-MLAs along with office-bearers to fetch information about the quality of the Central projects in their areas.
In the meeting Arvind Netam, Satyanarayan Sharma, Subhash Sharma, Rajendra Tiwari, Tarun Chaterjee, Chanesh Ram Rathiya, Ghanaram Sahu, Devvrat Singh, Imran Memon, Fulodevi Netam and Chandraprakash Bajpayee were present.
Organisational setup for new districts not now
The PCC president Nandkumar Patel said that organisational setup for nine new districts would take time as the high command will first announce the new state working committee. He said that the party would give equal importance to the new districts while forming new organisational setup for them.
