Submits charge sheet against Chhattisgarh government to President Pratibha Patil
After continuously targeting the BJP government in Chhattisgarh on issues like corruption, lawlessness and anarchy, the Congress finally knocked the doors of President Pratibha Patil on Thursday to lodge its formal complaints against Chief Minister Raman Singh and his team and demand CBI inquiry into the scams and irregularities surfaced in the state. About 65-member Congress delegation comprising PCC president Nandkumar Patel, leader of Congress Legislators Party (CLP) Ravindra Choubey, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries Charan Das Mahant, state Congress general secretary incharge BK Hariprasada and AICC treasurer Motilal Vora informed Patil that the BJP government had completely failed in all departments. Patil assured the delegation that she would send the charge sheet to the Union government.
Earlier, the Congress leaders gathered at Mahant’s Delhi residence on Thursday morning. Then they went to Hariprasada’s residence from where they headed towards Rashtrapati Bhavan in the afternoon to meet the President.
Through the charge sheet, the Congress alleged irregularities worth crores in works under MNREGA for which the state government received about Rs 5000 crore in the past five years. The Congress leaders pointed that scams worth over Rs 300 crore in MNREGA works had been surfaced in Sarguja district in last three years.
The delegation further informed that scam worth over Rs 3000 crore surfaced in state’s paddy procurement process while mining leases were allocated at random without following the norms.
The delegation was comprised of Dharamjeet Singh, Amarjeet Bhagat, TS Singhdeo, Bodhram Kanwar, Dr Premsai Singh, Kuldeep Juneja, Devendra Bahadur Singh, Paresh Bagbahra, Dr Haridas Bhardwaj, Bholaram Sahu, Kawasi Lakhma, Badruddin Quraishi, Bhajan Singh Nirankari, Jaisingh Agrawal, Padma Ghanshyam Manhar, Ambika Markam, Saroja Rathore, Dr Shivkumar Daharia, Ramdayal Uike, Dhanendra Sahu, Subhash Sharma, Rajendra Tiwari, Ramesh Varlyani, Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, Idris Gandhi, Shivnarayan Dwivedi and other party leaders.
