Munat’s remarks ‘useful clue’ for Lokayukta: Pandey

Former BJP leader Virendra Pandey on Wednesday said that Urban Administration Minister Rajesh Munat had himself given ‘useful clue’ to the Lokayukta by saying that his magazine Deep Kamal is BJP’s mouthpiece and its advertisement revenue goes to the party fund. “Munat, while trying to deny my complaints of corruption against him to Lok Ayog, has given such statement which exposes his misdeeds,” Pandey said.
“My complaint is regarding wrongdoings of a public servant who if misuses his post and dents the government exchequer to benefit himself or anybody else then it should be considered as crime for which there is provision of punishment in law,” Pandey said.
“In Munat’s case, he obtained advertisement for Deep Kamal through Chief Minister Raman Singh. While the ad revenue went to party fund, Munat got the commercial benefit of publishing the magazine from his offset printing press. Hence, misused his ministerial post to benefit the party as well as his own business venture,” Pandey alleged.
The ex-BJPian said Munat was also guilty of criminal conspiracy. “Munat has obtained advertisements without disclosing his name in spite of being the owner and printer publisher of Deep Kamal. Instead, while applying for ads, he mentioned the name of one committee which has no links with the magazine. This is sheer conspiracy by a responsible minister to misuse the government exchequer for self benefit and according to law it is a crime. In fact, there is a provision of seven years of imprisonment for such criminal conspiracies,” Pandey said.
Besides, he said, the minister should clear confusions about his educational qualification. “If he has informed the Election Commission that his highest educational qualification is higher secondary then how he becomes graduate in his MLA introductory profile in Vidhan Sabha? If any of the information about his qualification are wrong then he should clarify as it is his basic responsibility being a public representative,” Pandey said.
