YC burns CM’s effigy protesting Sept 9 lathicharge

The Youth Congress (YC) members on Saturday burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Raman Singh at Budhapara-based dharna spot as a protest against police lathicharge against them on September 9 while they were heading to gherao state Assembly. The YC’s Raipur Rural Vidhan Saba president Ashish Dubey alleged that the police took repressive action against them on government’s directives.
“We have already exposed this corrupt government. Our September 9 programme to gherao the VS was a peaceful agitation. However, we were treated as criminals by the police who, while lathicharging, specifically targeted some of our leaders in a planned manner,” Dubey said pointing towards the president of YC’s Raipur Lok Sabha constituency Vinod Tiwari who received grave injuries and is presently ailing in one of the city’s private hospitals.
He said the YC would continue raising issues related to public and its agitation against the BJP government in future.
Besides Dubey, the YC members who burnt the CM’s effigy were Sunny Agrawal, Subodh Haritwal, Saket Baid, Sandeep Yadu, Mohammad Fareed, Indrajeet Singh, Vicky Pandey, Pratap Singh, Bhagwat Sahu, Anil Pal and others.
