Congress legislator Ajit Jogi on Thursday demanded from the government to ban liquor sale in the state. “The government is simply deceiving people by launching deaddiction campaigns. Its decision to close down 263 liquor shops is also a pretense. The liquor sale is on the rise in the state and the excise department is on verge of achieving its target in the midst of the financial year,” said Jogi. “The Congress and its frontal organisations have always expressed concern over increasing liquor consumption and had even launched deaddiction drives at frequent intervals, but every time the government had suppressed such movements,” he said.
