Chief Minister Raman Singh has given his best wishes to the people of Chhattisgarh on the occasion of International Literacy Day which would be observed on Thursday. In his message, he felt that literacy is must for the development of every individual and further added that education holds equal importance for continuous growth. He also congratulated the people of Surajpur development block for the region being selected by National Literacy Mission Authority for the prestigious Satyen Maitra Award 2011. Expressing his satisfaction over increasing literacy rate in the state (from 64.7% to 71.04% in last 12 months), he hoped that cent percent population of the Chhattisgarh becomes literate and educated so that they could take optimum benefit of the different schemes meant for them and raise their living standard. He emphasised on girl education and women literacy in the state. He appealed to the public representatives as well as social organisations to play active role in expanding literacy campaign in the state.
