The Youth Congress (YC) on Saturday burnt an effigy of Essar for its alleged link with Maoists and demanded from the government to close down all the operations of company in the state and file criminal case against its owner. “The naxals are using the money being provided by Essar to buy weapons. How come the company which got an opportunity to do business in this peaceful state can show positive gestures to the naxals? This is an anti-national act. Such functions of companies should be immediately closed down across the country,” said the general secretary of YC’s Raipur North Vidhan Sabha Dilip Singh Chouhan.
He further slammed the state government for not taking prompt action against Essar in spite of apparent charges against it. “The Chief Minister Raman Singh should tell the people of Chhattisgarh the reason for delay in action against Essar. The government’s inaction is an insult to our security personnel who lost their lives while combating naxals,” said Chouhan.
He warned of gheraoing the CM if Essar would be exonerated of its alleged naxal-connections.
On the occasion, Chouhan was accompanied by Sheikh Shakeel, Bakar Abbas, Rehan Khan, Shirish Awasthi, Bablu Raza, Wasim Quasim, Niyaz Ahmed, Ashish Dwivedi, Rahul Khare, Nandan Jha, Harish Santwani, Jishant, Ujjwal, Gaurav, Kishore Pandey, Manish Shukla, Deepak Naidu, Chandrakant Netam and other YC workers at large number.
