Just recently, the senior leaders of the state Congress were vociferous speaking against Anna Hazare and rather echoing the same words uttered by their national leaders. Now, they seem reticent in expressing their opinion about the one of the staunchest followers of Gandhi, though they know that their national leaders continue to spew venom against him. The common man or in words of Congress – ‘Aam Aadmi’ is in dilemma. They are completely unable to fathom out the real intention of Congress – whether it wants power or public welfare. The Congress is not in the position to clarify at this juncture and anticipates that the citizens would surely use their wisdom before planning to change their political views.
The ruling BJP in the state couldn’t help smiling because it knows that the Congress leaders (and workers of course) won’t dare speaking against Anna at present as their critical words would only make them villains in the eyes of a common man.
But, not all Congress leaders oppose Anna. There are many who believe that Anna is right. Some even want to support Anna overtly but fear their act would be termed indiscipline and result in their termination from the party.
Ironically, in this the democratic country, the political parties do not follow democracy and rather behave as dictators who simply believe in imposition and scowl liberal brains.
The Congress workers are wordless because their party is in power at Centre. They know their opinion in Anna’s favour or against could change various political equations in the state and may cost dear to the party in future.
But, so is possible for other parties too. If BJP of any other party would have formed government at Centre then they too would have posed similar stand against Anna what the Congress is doing. In this scenario, the allegations would become counter-allegations and vice versa.
Anna’s supporters say the heroes emerge only from a humble background. Politics itself is a high-profile filed and anyone who has joined it cannot alienate himself from its glamour and influence and therefore shrewdness befits such people. They say the definition of loyalty in politics has changed and hence ‘dedication’ has been replaced by ‘exploitation’.
