YC stages dharna against Essar

Raipur, September 21, 2011

The Youth Congress (YC) on Wednesday staged dharna against Essar for its alleged links with naxals. The YC alleged that the Essar was providing financial succor to the Maoists who were using the fund to create terror in the state and victimise innocent people.
“The naxal activities have increase sharply in the state during BJP’s regime. Now, these extremists have found friends in the form of companies like Essar which are funding them regularly,” charged the general secretary of YC’s Raipur North Vidhan Sabha Dilip Singh Chouhan.
“If the government wants to eradicate naxalism from the state then why is it not taking action against Essar? Funding anti-nationals is a grave crime and falls under Treason Act. The government should promptly file case against Essar and close down its operations in the state,” said Chouhan.
The YC warned the government of launching aggressive agitation if it would delay in taking action against Essar.
On the occasion, the YC secretary Bablu Raza alleged that the mysterious silence of the government over Essar-naxal links indicates that its ministers had connections with the Maoists.
On the occasion, the Raipur North Vidhan Sabha legislator Kuldeep Juneja and DCC spokesperson Sheikh Shakeel were also present.
The YC members present at dharna spot were – Shirish Awasthi, Bakar Abbas, Akhilesh Joshi, Shahrukh Niyazi, Niyaz Ahmed, Ashish Dwivedi, Azhar Rahman, Raju Markandeya, Sachin Mishra, Vipin Mishra, Gaurav, etc.
