Jogi slams govt for selling Raikhera nursery to GMR

Congress legislator Ajit Jogi on Tuesday alleged that the BJP government had decided to sell all the premium and important lands of the state at throwaway price to the industrialists. Slamming the government for selling Horticulture department’s nursery spawning in about 50 acres of land at Raikhera near Tilda at the rate of only Rs 11 lakh to GMR, Jogi said Chief Minister Raman Singh’s pro-industrialists and anti-people image becomes stronger after such an upsetting deal.
“How can the government sell the nursery after investing crores on it? Moreover, the nursery has abundant trees of rare species. The GMR plans to cut these trees and construct a wide strip of road in the nursery parting it in two from the middle. Now, how will Chief Minister Raman Singh appeal to the people to join the government’s plantation campaigns when he himself is engaged in selling the greeneries of the state” asked Jogi.
He said the Congress would not allow GMR to cut any tree of the Raikhera nursery and would adopt environmentalist Sundarlal Bahuguna’s chipko movement to save state’s greeneries.
“The government has already sold several hectares of agricultural lands in Janjgir-Champa to the industrialists to set up power plants. Besides, it has further sold Rogda dam and river waters to the industries. People of Chhattisgarh are regretting for giving another chance to the BJP government which has made their like hell. The BJP’s days are numbers in the state,” Jogi said.
