Govt distributes Rs over 1120 cr loan to farmers




With an objective to provide financial assistance to the farmers in the ongoing Kharif season, the state government has by far distributed more than Rs 1120 crore loans to them. The loan is being provided for short-term period and the rate of interest in minimal, i.e. only three percent annually. Earlier, the government had distributed loans to the farmers at same rate of interest during Rabi season. The loan is being provided to the farmers through 1333 primary cooperative societies.
In the previous Kharif season, the government had distributed about Rs 810 crore loan amounts to the farmers which is about Rs 310 crore less than the distribution figures of the current financial year.
The loan is being given in the form of 60 percent cash amount and 40 percent farming materials like fertiliser, seeds, etc. Notably, the government has set target to distribute 1500 crore loan to the farmers in the current Kharif season. The government started disbursing loan for Kharif crops in this fiscal from April 1, 2011.
The officials of Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Bank informed that the farmers of Durg district have taken highest amount of loan, i.e. Rs 250.85 crore followed by Raipur – Rs 215.04 crore and Rajnandgaon – Rs 106.70 crore.
The loan distributed to other districts are – Mahasamund – Rs 75.11 crore, Kabeerdham – Rs 88.24 crore, Dhamtari – Rs 54.57  crore, Jagdalpur (Bastar) – Rs 42.42 crore, Narayanpur – Rs 1.34 crore, Kanker (North Bastar) – Rs 25.41 crore, Dantewada (South Bastar) – Rs 1.34 crore, Bijapur – Rs 2.75 crore, Bilaspur – Rs 98.03 crore, Janjgir-Champa – Rs 80.85 crore, Korba – 13.954 crore, Raigarh – Rs 22.50 crore, Jashpur – Rs 2.48 crore, Sarguja – Rs 32.96 crore and Koria – Rs 5.45 crore.
