Cong demands high-level probe into VAY project

The Congress has demanded from government to conduct high-level inquiry into the flats constructed under Valmiki Awas Yojna (VAY) in Kabir Nagar. The DCC president Inderchand Dhariwal sniffs corruption over Rs six crore in Rs 12 crore-VAY project. “Apparently, substandard building materials were used to construct the flats under the scheme and hence the September 20 incident occurred,” said Dhariwal after he and a delegation of Congress members inspected the spot in Kabir Nagar where part of the building was collapsed on Tuesday. “The other buildings in the locality under VAY are also in ramshackle state. The entire area should be declared as dangerous and accident-prone zone and the residents should be shifted elsewhere,” said Dhariwal.
