More showers likely in next two days

The returning monsoon is active again. Many places of the state including capital city marked fresh spell of rains on Tuesday. According to the officials of meteorological department, the state is likely to record more rainfall in a day or two. In some places, the officials have warned of heavy showers.
The officials said the people of Chhattisgarh would not get respite from rains in next coming days as the returning monsoon can be play spoilsport to their weekend programmes due to formation of cyclonic storm over north western part of Bay of Bengal.
On Monday, Arang recorded about 13 cm rainfall which was highest in state. The other places which recorded good showers on Monday were – Mainpur and Mahasamund – 8 cm, Balodabazar, Pithora and Durgkondal – 5 cm, Palari and Kurud – 4 cm and Chhura, Basna, Janjgir, Sonhat and Wadrufnagar – 3 cm. Besides, many places recorded one or two centimeter rainfall.
On Tuesday, the rains lashed the capital in the afternoon for about thirty minutes. The met department informed that the city recorded about 3 mm rainfall. The showers also hampered normal life in Rajnandgaon and Jagdalpur where the met department recorded 6 cm and 3 cm rainfall respectively on Tuesday.
