Govt to renew nazul land leases

The state government has decided to renew nazul land leases of all districts in the coming days. In this connection, the Revenue Minister Amar Agrawal convened a meeting of Raipur, Bilaspur and Sarguja divisional commissioners at Mantralaya on Thursday.
Agrawal instructed the divisional commissioners to launch special campaign for renewal of nazul land leases by fixing a deadline for all the collectors.
The Revenue department will also update all the maps. The minister asked the officials upload all the maps in the department’s official website after matching them with the maps obtained from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Thereafter, the computerised maps would be distributed to the farmers at tehsil level.
In the meeting, the minister also discussed about the existing setup of the department and sought methods from the officials to improve it. He said the setup of the department should be first reviewed at divisional, district and tehsil levels and if the more posts are required for smooth functioning then an amended proposal can be sent to the state government.
He further asked the officials to fill the vacant posts quickly and ensure adequate availability of necessary materials, equipment and vehicles in the department. He said the old buildings of the department should be repaired at the earliest. He further said that if needed proposals for new buildings for the department could be forwarded. He also directed the officials to reconstitute the Revenue inspector circles.
The meeting was attended by Raipur division commissioner Manohar Pandey, Bilaspur division commissioner RP Jain, Sarguja division commissioner MS Paikra, commissioner Land Records Dr BL Tiwari and joint director of Revenue department Sanjay Alagh.
