Raipur, September 29, 2011
Leader of the opposition in state Assembly Ravindra Choubey on Thursday alleged that irregularities prevailed in tendering process of Chhattisgarh State Mandi Board and demanded probe into the matter from Chief Minister Raman Singh.
“The board invited tenders for construction of platforms and godowns at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore on July 22, 2011. Last date to submit the tender forms was September 13, 2011. On September 22, the tenders were opened but it was learnt that the corrupt officials are negotiating from the higher bidders from Raipur and Bastar districts ignoring the lower bidders from other districts,” Choubey said.
“There is an ugly past of these corrupt officials who had dented the government exchequer by manipulating the documents and consequently affecting the quality of the work. Similar attempts were being made again and if the government would not awake timely then another major work would be carried out without norms by an ineligible contractor,” Choubey said.
