276 NSUI activists held while going to gherao CM


Demand formation of fee fixation committee to curb high fee charges in pvt schools

About 276 NSUI activists were arrested by police in the midway while they were advancing to gherao Chief Minister from Budhapara-based dharna spot with their demand for constitution of fee fixation committee to curb high fee charges in private schools on Thursday. All the NSUI activists were released later in the evening.
The NSUI state president Devendra Yadav alleged that the private schools were exploiting middle-class and poor families by increasing fees every year.
“The Chhattisgarh government should take cue from Delhi government which has formed fee fixation committee to check private schools to financially exploit parents by taking inordinate fees. The private schools cannot snatch Right to Education from the students and it is the government’s responsibility to safeguards their right,” said Yadav.
He said the NSUI would continue its movement against high fee in private schools till the government constitutes fee fixation committee. “We will not allow commercialisation of education and would always support students to get their right,” he added.
The NSUI activists who accompanied Yadav were Mahesh Gangotri, Amit Sharma, Pankaj Mishra, Nikhil Dwivedi, Rakesh Pandey, Amitesh Rai, Zaheen Khan, Prakash Pawar, Akash Sharma, Bhavesh Shukla, Sumit Sao, etc.
