Congress on Thursday said that the photograph of Chief Minister Raman Singh with a malnourished kid in Orchha (Bastar division) was an audit report of state’s public distribution system (PDS).
“The condition of the kid in the photograph narrates that the schemes meant of children do not reach to remote areas of the state,” said chief PCC spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi.
“Large number of children in Bastar and Sarguja are malnourished because corruption dominates Central schemes in Chhattisgarh. The malnourished kids indicate that their mothers do not get nutritious and balanced food. If this is the condition of pregnant women and children in distant areas then where has the allocated funds gone,” asked Trivedi.
Objecting over the CM’s photograph with the kid, he said, “While the CM is reflecting state’s prosperity, the condition of malnourished kid speaks volumes about other children.”
He said just by calling the kid a future doctor or chief minister, the CM could erase the memories from the minds of tribals about the harassment cases against them including the recently lathicharge on their community members in state capital.
“People have realised that the government is playing gimmicks with them and hence the CM should now ensure that benefit women and children with the schemes meant for them,” he said.
