Incharge ministers hijacked zila panchayats’ rights: Patel

Cong to meet Guv regarding  panchayat reps’ problems

Will organise massive VS-level panchayat reps’ meet

Raipur, April 13, 2012

State Congress president Nandkumar Patel has alleged that the government’s incharge ministers had hijacked the rights of zila panchayats, particularly in those places where Congress representatives had been elected. “We will inform the Governor about the biased attitude of the government towards Congress panchayat representatives after our vada nibhao fortnight,” said Patel while addressing the meeting of panchayat representatives of Raipur and Bilaspur divisions at Congress Bhawan on Friday.
He said the party would also organise massive meeting of the panchayat representatives at Vidhan Sabha-level. He said the meeting had been convened to hear the problems of the representatives. “Prior to this meeting, we had convened a meeting of civic bodies’ representatives after which the government was compelled to change the relevant minister,” he said.
He further said that the panchayat representatives would publicise Central-sponsored schemes being implemented in rural pockets. In addition, he said the representatives would also demand from the government to put photographs of Prime Minister and Union Health Minister on Sanjeevni 108 ambulances.
CLP leader Ravindra Choubey said the government was ridiculing 74th amendment of the Constitution.
“The government is harassing Congress panchayat representatives through SDM, BDO, tehsildar and SHO. When it fails to mount pressure on our elected representatives then it misuses section 40 to sack and them and put behind the bars,” he said.
In the meeting, the panchayat representatives informed the party leadership about the problems they are facing in their areas.
