Against fee hike in entrance exams by CPEB
Raipur, April 05, 2012
The NSUI on Thursday conducted signature drive at Rajeev Gandhi chowk against fee hike in entrance examinations by Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CPEB).
This was the third phase of the NSUI’s movement against fee hike as earlier it had burnt the effigy of the board as a protest and then had submitted a memorandum to CPEB Exam Controller Pradeep Choubey to bring down fee.
The NSUI state vice president Subodh Haritwal informed that the CPEB had increased fee of all the entrance exams to Rs 700 and recruitment exams to Rs 500. “Earlier, all the entrance and recruitment exams had different fees,” he said.
He also pointed that as against earlier provision for students regarding appearance in exams for more than one subjects through one application, the recent CPEB announcements would compel applicants to shell out Rs 100 more for the same purpose.
Haritwal pointed that the government did not even give any relaxation to the applicants belonging to BPL families for whom Rs 700 is a big amount.
He further indicated that despite government’s justifications that CPEB is not a profit-making agency, the board earned Rs eight crore profit last year. “If the board is in profit then why it is denting pockets of unemployed students by hiking their exam fee,” he asked.
During signature drive, Haritwal was accompanied by Gulzeb Ahmed, Shahbaz Hussein, Nadeem Salat, Naushad Khan, Cheenu Pandey, Mayank Gulati, Shubham Agrawal, Sagar Dulani, Kunal, etc.
