Cong attacks BJP on coal block allocations

Raipur, April 11, 2012

Congress has lashed BJP government again for allocating coal blocks to Sancheti brothers. This time, the Congress raised the issue during its district-level workers’ meeting that held at Kunkuri (Jashpur) on Wednesday. The AICC general secretary and state unit incharge BK Hariprasada, PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey in their separate addresses hit Raman Singh government for showing generosity towards Sancheti brothers for their link with BJP supreme Nitin Gadkari and denting state exchequer.
Hariprasada said that the BJP governments at Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh had done huge irregularities in mining sector.
Raising issue of migration he said despite abundant natural resources in Chhattisgarh, the locals were forced to go to other states in search of job.
On CAG reports, he said, the BJP was adopting double standard. “At Centre, the BJP continuously obstructed proceedings of the Parliament on the basis of CAG reports while at Chhattisgarh the same party is rejecting this constitutional institution’s reports,” he ridiculed.
Patel said the government had allocated the coal blocks illegally. He promised that the Congress would distribute saran brand rice to gratis to the cardholders if Congress would be voted to power.
“Besides, we will also make Patthalgaon a district, a step the BJP government should have taken but it did not do out of malice,” he added. He alleged that the government was misusing fund and not spending on right purpose.
Choubey said the state government was deceiving people by claiming central schemes as its own. He said the state was incurring at least Rs 1000 crore loss from every mine.
He alleged that no work had been done on projects related to water, roads and power except corruption. He pointed that the government had failed to curb human trafficking in Jashpur.
Hariprasada, Patel and Choubey further exhorted workers to make party’s vada nibhao fortnight, slated to be organised from April 16-30, successful by informing people about corruption, irregularities and scams done by the government.
The meeting was also addressed by Raigarh Lok Sabha incharge general secretary Bhupesh Baghel, deputy CLP leader Rampukar Singh, DCC Jashpur president Arti Singh and legislator Dr Shakrajeet Nayak.
These leaders expressed their concern over abject condition of farmers in Jashpur due to heavy debts. They also raised the issue of Rs 270 paddy bonus and free power up to 5 HP for irrigation to the farmers.
