Congress has once again alleged that the government had simply made empty promises in previous gram suraj abhiyan (GSA) and never intended to fulfill them. “The job of GSA teams is only to collect applications but not to redress the problem of villagers. During last year’s GSA, the people of village Kapasda (Dharsiva block) had submitted about 13 applications to the government team, but no initiative was taken to solve their problem,” informed chief Congress spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi on Wednesday.
“When the GSA team led by Principal Secretary Urban Administration Department Ajay Singh reached Kapasda under the campaign on Wednesday, the DCC Raipur Rural president Pankaj Sharma and other party workers along with villagers showed it the list of 13 applications and expressed their annoyance over government’s apathy,” informed Trivedi.
“Similarly, when another GSA team reached village Chhatoud (Tilda block) on Wednesday, the people asked the action taken by the government on their complaints submitted during previous campaign. But when the GSA failed to provide any detail, the villagers refused to submit fresh applications,” Trivedi said.
He said if the General Administration Department’s annual report for 2011-12 claims that 57369 out of 58378 applications received in Raipur district were resolved then why 13 applications of village Kapasda were ignored.
“It is also surprising that the GSA teams do not carry records of works done against complaints/applications submitted during previous campaigns. Therefore, the Chhatoud people sent the GSA team back,” he said.
“The unresolved applications in Raipur district clearly indicate that the government plays with the public sentiment. It is also obvious that the grievance redressal rate in remote villages of Bastar, Bijapur, Sukma, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Sarguja and Jashpur is worse,” he said.
“The government is irresponsible, insensitive and negligent. It has completely failed to control red tapism and is continuously ignoring public problems,” he said.
