Now govt’s transmission scam will be disclosed: Cong

Says wrong interlocutors selected to hold talks for release of abducted Collector

AICC general secretary and state Congress incharge BK Hariprasada has said that Congress will soon disclose government’s transmission scam. “We have earlier submitted a chargesheet to President Pratibha Patil and complained her that state government had done corruption worth Rs 20000 crore. Later, the reports of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) too revealed grafts cases of the ruling party. Now, the Congress will inform the public how the BJP government is illegally selling power but showing loss in transmission,” said Hariprasada while talking to scribes at Congress Bhawan on Monday.

“The hike in power tariff is the result of this huge transmission scam,” he said hinting that the Congress would launch statewide movement against the government on this issue in coming days.

“The BJP has failed in all fronts despite ruling in the state for the past eight and a half years. Corruption and bad governance reflect the BJP’s performance,” he said.

When asked his take on government’s efforts to get Sukma Collector Alex Paul Menon released, Hariprasada felt much more could have been done instantly after the incident took place.

“It is highly surprising that the government remained silent in the first 24 hours of Menon’s abduction. This indicates that it was not alert and took the matter very causally. Even it hastened in selecting the interlocutors to hold talks with those named by Maoists for release of the Collector,” he charged.

He lashed out at the government for ignoring Bastar, Sarguja. “There is no government in these tribal regions and hence the extremists got opportunity to ramify,” he said.

Asked about the Congress move if the Collector would not be released, he said the party had already appealed to the naxals to release Menon. He said his party would not compromise with the interests of Chhattisgarh and would always condemn the incidents Menon abduction case.

He further said dialogue could not be maintained at gunpoint and hence the Maoists should shun violence and hold talks with the government across the table pertaining to their demands.
