BJP anti-democratic, anti-women: Markam

Raipur, Apr 09, 2012

Pradesh Mahila Congress (PMC) president Ambika Markam on Monday alleged that BJP was anti-democratic and anti-women as its government removed two Congress public representatives and one Congress supported representative in Chief Minister Raman Singh’s home district Kawardha under conspiracy.
She held the CM responsible for removal of the three public representatives and charged that he was misusing his discretionary powers to play filthy politics.
She said the BJP government was attacking panchayati raj system by taking one-sided action against democratically elected Congress public representatives.
She said the removal of Congress representative Seema Agam Anat from president post of Kawardha district panchayat on grounds of false charges exposed the BJP’s anti-scheduled caste (SC) face too.
“Moreover, the parliamentarians like Madhusudan Yadav overtly remarked that Anat met such fate because of being a Congress representative. This is unbecoming to a person like Yadav who himself is an elected public representative,” she said.
She claimed that Congress supported Kawardha municipal council chairperson Asha Tamboli too was removed on pretext of baseless charges.
She informed that another public representative Dulourin, who was elected as sarpanch in CM’s home village, was removed just because she belonged to Congress. “The government used section 40 to take action against her,” she said.
