NSUI protests proposed road before girls’ hostel

Raipur, April 17, 2012

NSUI on Tuesday gheraoed Commissioner Higher Education protesting proposed road before Science College girls’ hostel. The road will link GE road and Ring Road No 1.
The NSUI’s former state president Sanjeev Shukla said that earlier the road near Ayurvedic College was supposed to be widened from link GE road to Ring Road No 1, but suddenly the plan was changed.
“Even the Raipur Municipal Corporation’s (RMC) Mayor-in-Council (MiC) has approved road project near Ayurvedic College,” he pointed.
“The proposed road will only cause inconvenience to the students living in the girls’ hostel as not only their studies would be affected due to continuous sound pollution but also the area will become accident-prone zone due heavy traffic movement,” Shukla said.
“Besides, the area where the proposed road will be constructed has actually been proposed for Ayurvedic University, a significant project which will surely be sidelined if the former project will be given preference,” he said.
He warned that the NSUI would launch aggressive movement if the road would be constructed before the girls’ hostel.
The NSUI members who accompanied Shukla on Tuesday were Tarachand Mishra, Manish Pradhan, Hitendra Sawankar, Deenbandhu Baghel, Navreen Khan, Preetam Sahu, etc.
