After NSUI, DCC Raipur Urban too has asked the government to take initiative and ask private schools to slash their high fee structures. The DCC Raipur Urban president Inderchand Dhariwal warned the School Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal of launching aggressive protest movement if the private schools would put a deaf ear to the Congress demand.
“The government should have intervened into the matter much earlier as the fee structures in private schools have shot up. Five years back, the monthly fee of a nursery student was Rs 50 and now it is about Rs 500. The middle class is major sufferer but the government seems impassive towards this issue,” said Dhariwal.
He pointed that these schools charge fees during summer holidays of the students. “When no studies are being conducted then why fee is being taken from the students? This trend should be stopped with an immediate effect,” he demanded.
He further indicated that these schools also take fat donation amount without providing receipt against it.
“They even make mandatory for students to buy uniform, books and stationeries and other accessories from school. Besides, the students have to pay thousands of rupees for cultural events, sports, computer, picnic, etc,” he said.
He said the School Education department instead of protecting the private schools must rather tighten noose on them so that they may not exploit the parents by denting their pockets.
He said the Congress would also distribute pamphlets and launch signature drive against the private schools if the high fee structures would be curtailed.
