Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Food Processing Industry Charandas Mahant on Monday said that the vada nibhao fortnight launched by Congress was aimed to unmask the BJP government.
“People living in remote villages are severely upset with the BJP government as it has not fulfilled its promises done in previous gram suraj campaign. Now, again the government wants to deceive people through gram suraj campaign. Through vada nibhao fortnight, the party will remind the government about its previous promises,” he said.
He alleged that the entire state administration was engaged in corruption. “The government every scheme has failed due to corruption. Anarchy prevails in the system but the government is trying to hide it by gram suraj campaign,” he said.
He charged that the government had done nothing for the common man. “The power tariff rate has increased continuously in past couple of years. The public distribution system (PDS) has completely failed. The farmers’ problems have not yet been addressed. Many schools in distant areas have been closed, cases of malnourished children in rural pockets are on the rise and the villages are devoid of basic health facilities. In this backdrop, how will the government face the people,” he asked.
He further pointed that the government had failed to maintain law and order and curb naxal violence. “The government is even trying to snatch right of quota from scheduled cast (SC) community. It has rather become insensitive towards poor and SC,” he alleged.
