Congress on Tuesday said that BJP could not snub Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report merely by giving misleading statements. “The BJP state president Ramsewak Paikra is engaged brushing off CAG report but the facts have become public and the ruling party’s all attempts would rather boomerang,” said Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.
“The CAG report has been tabled in state Assembly. Now, even if loss of Rs 10000 crore of eligibility and utility certificates is put aside,, the CAG has estimated Rs scams amounting 2902.63 crore have been done by the BJP government. More importantly, scams amounting Rs 2653.55 crore has been done in Energy and Mining departments which are dealt by Chief Minister Raman Singh himself,” Shukla pointed.
He added that senior BJP leaders like MP Ramesh Bais and Karuna Shukla too had expressed their concern over rising corruption in the government.
He said BJP national president Nitin Gadkari’s image too was on stake after the CAG report revealed that two coal blocks of the state were allocated to Sancheti brothers who are closely linked to him.
He asked the CM to clarify whether Sancheti brothers got coal blocks on any other ground than their kinship with Gadkari.
He indicated that the Congress had complained against corruption in the BJP government to President Pratibha Patil about six months before the disclosure of CAG reports in September 2011.
“We had submitted list of irregularities/scams amounting Rs 20000 crore done by the BJP government and had also attached evidences. The CAG report now is only a confirmation to our allegation,” he said.
