Ensure abducted Collector’s security: Cong to govt

Raipur, April 21, 2012

In wake of Sukma Collector Alex Paul Menon’s abduction the Congress asked the government to ensure the security of the official. Menon was abducted from Keralapal during government’s gram suraj abhiyan (GSA) on Saturday.
“The government’s intelligence has completely failed. It is unfortunate that the naxals abducted Menon,” said state Congress president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey.
The condition in Bastar has become worse with increasing dominance of Maoists. When the head of the district Collector is not safe then how would government provide security to the common people,” the duo said.
They said the incident took place due to security lapse and advised Chief Minister to tighten security apparatus of the state.
Notably, the naxals had attacked GSA team at Pegda Palli near Madded under Bijapur district on April 20 killing three.
Patel and Choubey said Bastarians are horrified with back-to-back naxal attack on GSA teams.
