Congress legislator Mohammad Akbar has alleged that land mafias were misusing housing cooperative societies and making huge money by violating rules. He further charged that the government was not taking action against guilty officials despite the probe report confirming their wrongdoings. Akbar levelled these allegations through his call attention notice at state Assembly on Wednesday.
He informed that Udya Grih Nirman Sahkari Samiti (UGNSS) Tatibandh had 42.36 acre land under its possession but the office-bearers obtained map approval of 100.3 acre land from Town and Country Planning department and then sold plots to the committee members despite not owning the lands. By doing this, he said, the office-bearers had deceived the committee members. Similarly, registry of the lands is being done by putting different khasra number instead of actual khasra number, he said.
Akbar further charged that the UGNSS was also selling lands against rules. He pointed that about 1.023 hectare land had been sold to Singhania Buildcon and Manoj Valiramani and the committee incurred the cost of land development. He said many other irregularities had surfaces in the committee’s works.
In his reply, the Cooperative Minister Nankiram Kanwar said his department was taking suitable action against the officials who are found guilty. On UGNSS case, he said the committee owned 48 acre land while signed agreements with 84 farmers and then obtained map approval of 100.3 acre land from Town and Country Planning department. The land was distributed in 4 sectors and then sold to committee members. In this connection, notice had been served to the UGNSS under section 37(1) of Town and Country Planning Act 1973, he said.
He informed that his department was inquiring into other charges levelled against the committee.
