Union Minister of State for Agriculture and
Food Processing Industry Charandas Mahant has met Union Home Minister P
Chidambaram and urged him to provide full support to Chhattisgarh government for
release of abducted Sukma Collector Alex Paul Menon.
Mahant also expressed his concerns over the habit
developed by the Maoists to abduct the innocent people and to blackmail the
state governments. He felt that the Centre needed to take effective and stern steps
to curb naxal violence in all forms to check recurrence of incidents like
Menon’s abduction.
